WARWICK MELROSE CELEBRATES 85TH BIRTHDAY WITH
COMPLETE ROOM RENOVATION AND UNBELIEVABLE RATE AND DINNER OFFER FOR A

DALLAS (July 22, 2009) – You would never guess
that she is celebrating her 85th “birthday” in 2009. The Warwick
Melrose Dallas Hotel, which opened its doors in 1924, is more beautiful
today than at any time in her past, having just unveiled a
multi-million dollar, year-long renovation to its guest rooms and
suites.
“Every room received a complete makeover,” said Larry McAfee, general manager of the Warwick Melrose Dallas.
“Fabrics,
including carpets, drapery and bedding, every piece of furniture,
paint, artwork, light fixtures – even the TVs, coffee makers and
clock-radios with iPod dock are all new. Yet, when you enter a room,
your first impression is not ‘new’ – it’s ‘luxury,’ ‘glamour’ and
‘comfort.’ We wanted tasteful opulence that would be inviting to a
modern traveler. Hollywood of the 1920s seemed the era that best
represented that blend, and it ties to the timeframe in which the hotel
opened,” said McAfee.
Also to celebrate her 85th Birthday, the Warwick Melrose Dallas
Hotel is implementing an $85 special where patrons can either stay in
the hotel on select nights (85 dates total in 2009) for $85 or get
dinner for two in the AAA Four Diamond ranked Landmark Restaurant for
$85, plus tax and gratuity. (That includes two of each of the
following: a complimentary glass of house wine, appetizer, entrée and

The
Warwick Melrose Dallas, a AAA Four-Diamond hotel, is part of the
Warwick Hotels International group, which includes five North American

“Our owner, Richard Chiu, has a vision to make the Warwick Melrose Hotel an international destination,” said McAfee.
“In
these economic times, most hotels are scaling back plans or deferring
renovations, but Mr. Chiu is committed to strategic investments that
further the Warwick brand, and he is particularly interested in
establishing the brand in Dallas.” One of the design
firms employed for the project was Black Box Interiors of London, who
has done work for several other Warwick International Hotels, including
the Warwick Brussels and the Warwick Denver.
RUST AND BRONZE PALETTES
“The
Warwick Melrose Hotel was originally a combination hotel/apartment
building when it opened, and so our rooms are all unique sizes and
shapes, and all of our rooms are spacious and even over-sized,” said McAfee.
“Similarly, although there are common elements among the newly redone rooms, no two are exactly alike.”Corner
King Rooms and suites (40 rooms) revel in a “Rust” color palette for
the fabrics, and feature a half-canopy above the bed, upholstered in
the same fabric as the drapes and valences. Other guest rooms bask in a
“Bronze” color influence for fabrics. Light shades of cognac,
coffee and cream were chosen for wall colors. Furnishings are a mixture
of dark woods, some with mirrored accents (such as TV consoles),
upholstered sofas and chairs, and lovely muted silver night and
occasional tables in a classically designed “French” empire style,
topped with antiqued mirrored glass. Lamps are silver Bouillot style
with black shades, and suites feature crystal chandeliers.
New
bedding features rich chocolate, claret and golden brocade bedcovers
over crisp white Italian Fili D’Oro duvets and 400-thread-count sheets.
Down-filled sleeping pillows are ready for sweet dreams.
The
renovations extend into the bathrooms, which offer newly refinished
tubs, shower rods and curtains. The existing European marble floors
have been freshly polished and regrouted.
The one item in the
room that would not be recognized by a Hollywood star circa 1924 is the
new flat-screen Samsung TVs in all rooms, ranging from 37-42”. Artwork
created by Dallas artist Ann Parks is also new, but fits in well with
the overall ambiance because it features black and white images of
architectural details from the Warwick Melrose Hotel exterior. Close-up
shots of stone griffins or details on carved arches are original
touches that reinforce the classic nature of the décor.
OTHER AMENITIES AND ATMOSPHERE
