Enter one of the most beautiful historical monuments of the city, designed by architect Simon Maupin. This masterpiece of classical architecture from the 17th century is lavishly decorated with painted decorations remarkable (baroque stucco). However gilding and wreaths is what makes this place a palace.
During the Franco-Prussian War (1870), the people of Lyon vowed to extend the Marian sanctuary if the city was spared. The prayer was answered and it was built from 1872 to 1884 by Pierre Bossan and Sainte Marie Perrin in the Gothic and Byzantine style.
These shortcuts in the form of internal passage, allow to communicate from a street to the other one by crossing one or several buildings and run. They are mainly situated in Old Lyon and in Croix-Rousse.
